Virginia police: 6 injured during I-66 car chase

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Police say six people were injured during a chase on Interstate 66 this weekend.

Virginia State Police say shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, troopers stopped a Dodge Charger whose driver was wanted by the local police. As the officer was taking the driver into custody, the passenger of the car took control of the wheel and sped off.

Police say a trooper pursued the fleeing Charger until the driver lost control and careened into a line of traffic on eastbound Interstate 66.

Authorities say six people suffered injuries, including the driver of the Charger, who was taken into custody. Two injuries were serious.

Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Anthony McCrae of Washington. He is being held on outstanding warrants from Arlington and Prince William counties. Additional charges are pending.
