Update: Ozzy is now on the mend
WASHINGTON - Ozzy is a survivor.
Donations have poured in to help the tough West Highland Terrier, who was stolen from his Manassas, Va., home last month.
Ozzy needs a $6,000 surgery on his leg, which was injured during his abduction and escape. About half of the needed funds have been raised through the Prince William County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
A veterinary surgical clinic in Manassas has agreed to operate on the dog for about half the cost, according to the Manassas Patch.
Ozzy and a female West Highland Terrier were taken from their home in mid April. The female was later found dead in a trash bag with her mouth and legs duct-taped. A motorist found Ozzy with his legs bound by duct tape, and took the dog to a veterinarian, who called the dog's owner.
The Prince William SPCA said that Ozzy's mouth was also taped shut.
Khanh Hoang Hong, of the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane, was arrested and charged with the two dogs' abduction. He faces charges of burglary, animal cruelty and grand larceny.
Ozzy has since returned home to his owner and awaits his surgery.
The Prince William SPCA is still accepting donations through paypal.
