Fairfax County police investigate report of shots fired at Coast Guard station

WASHINGTON – Portions of Telegraph Road near South Van Dorn in Fairfax County were closed Monday morning for what appears to have been a false alarm at a U.S. Coast Guard facility.

Fairfax County police officers responded at about 8 a.m. to what was thought to be the sound of shots fired at the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center located in the 7300 block of Telegraph Road in Alexandria.

Authorities dispatched numerous officers, a K-9 unit and a helicopter.

But a police spokesman says there was no indication any shots were fired or that anyone was hurt.
