Best cities for vampires? Washington is No. 6

Give credit to the PR team at real estate firm Redfin: They’ve found a way to work vampire into a Halloween week news release, and its latest market rankings say Washington would be a great place for vampires.

Redfin’s ” 10 Best U.S. Cities to Be a Vampire” is based on late-night bar hours and the number of cloudy days, blood banks, blood drives and houses for sale near cemeteries.

Washington ranks No. 6.

Washington has 164 cloudy days per year, bars that close at 3 a.m., 471 blood banks and drives, and we rank No. 11 for the number of homes for sale near a cemetery.

“Washington went through a lot of turmoil in its early years, and there are plenty of places that are reportedly haunted as a result,” says Washington Redfin agent Michael Alderfer. “There are also a lot of historical homes with unique histories.”

Baltimore ranks No. 1 in the nation for the number of houses for sale near cemeteries and No. 3 overall for vampire appeal.

Philadelphia ranks No. 1 on the list, in graphic at right.
