Man arrested in shooting death of DC mom of 4

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police say they’ve arrested a man in the shooting death a District of Columbia mother of four.

Metro police said late Wednesday that they arrested 33-year-old Raheem Jones of Northeast Washington and charged him with murder. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

Police arrested Jones in the death of 27-year-old Deandria Conyers of Southeast D.C. on Sept. 14. Two of her four children were home at the time of the shooting. They weren’t hurt.

Conyers’ grandfather, Michael Conyers, tells WRC-TV that he’s the one who found her body and that he was in total shock and hysterical with grief.

He says his granddaughter often would feed and shelter people she didn’t know well, which he thinks may have led to her death.

Police have not discussed a motive.
