Video released of Mazza Gallerie diamond thieves

WASHINGTON — Police released a video of a smash-and-grab robbery that netted the thieves $43,000 worth of jewelry last week at Mazza Gallerie in Northwest.

The two knocked off the Pampillonia Jewelers around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, July 3.

During the robbery, the two wore masks and used a hammer and a hand weight to smash the display case that held diamonds.

They made off with three diamond bracelets, seven sets of diamond earrings and two diamond pendants, police say.

In the video, two men in baseball caps are seen outside the store before the robbery, without their masks.

The video then cuts to where they are running from the scene.

Along the way, one loses his cap and the other jumps over it as he gets away.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information about the July 3 heist in the 5300 block of Wisconsin Avenue to call 202-727-9099.
