Deer strikes pedestrian at D.C. bus stop

WASHINGTON – A woman was hit by a deer as she stepped off a bus in D.C. Friday morning.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after the deer knocked her down at a bus step near Alabama Avenue SE and Naylor Road SE about 9 a.m., according to D.C. Fire & EMS.

Department spokesman Tim Wilson says he doesn’t recall another time when someone had to be hospitalized after a deer ran into them.

Witnesses told ABC7 that the deer must have been spooked by a group of people waiting at the bus stop and leapt up into the air.

While in mid-flight, the deer’s back legs hit the woman and knocked her out.
