Kitten thrown from truck; reward offered

WASHINGTON – The Washington Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a black and white kitten that was thrown out of a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a white man was seen chucking the kitten out of a white truck at the intersection of 51st and G streets in Southeast D.C., says the Humane Society.

The kitten was rescued and brought to the Washington Humane Society. Initially, veterinarians thought one of the cat’s front legs was broken, but discovered severe nerve damage in the leg, which had to be amputated.

The vet who did the amputation did the procedure at no charge, said Jennifer Gardner with the Washington Humane Society.

Gardner said in a few weeks, the cat will be well enough to be adopted.

Anyone with information about the incident should call 202-723-5730.
