For Immediate Release                                                                           November 10, 2021

(Washington, D.C.) WTOP received national recognition at this year’s Annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Show held virtually today.

The WTOP team was named News/Talk Station of the Year for their commitment to traffic, weather and news in Maryland, DC and Virginia.

“Our team works diligently 24/7/365 to serve our listeners by delivering them the latest news across the region in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia,” said Joel Oxley, WTOP’s General Manager. “It’s an incredible honor and opportunity to work with such a talented group of people and be able to share our success in winning this prestigious award from the National Association of Broadcasters. We look forward to serving our community for many years to come.”

Marconi finalists were selected by a task force of broadcasters, and the winners were voted on by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy. The votes were tabulated by an independent firm.

The 2021 NAB Marconi Radio Awards were hosted by Angela Yee, co-host of the nationally syndicated morning show, “The Breakfast Club.” NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith, who is stepping down as the end of the year, delivered his farewell State of the Industry Address during the event.

Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
