(Washington, D.C.) WTOP received national recognition at the Annual NAB Marconi Radio Awards Show held last night in New York City.

The WTOP team was named News/Talk Station of the Year for its commitment to traffic, weather and news in Maryland, DC and Virginia.

“This award is truly a testament to the work we do as a team delivering the latest local news across the DMV region to our listening community,” said Joel Oxley, WTOP’s General Manager. “I am so proud to work with such an incredibly talented group of people and honored we are able to share our successes in winning this prestigious award from the National Association of Broadcasters.”

Marconi finalists were selected by a task force of broadcasters, and the winners were voted on by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy. The votes were tabulated by an independent firm.

Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.
