WTOP Announces First Annual Top Kids Awards

 Washington, D.C. WTOP and WTOP.com, today announced the “WTOP Top Kids Awards” in partnership with Northwest Federal Credit Union supporting local area kids doing amazing things in their communities across Maryland, DC and Virginia.

Beginning Monday, August 10 participants can nominate kids for their incredible public service including (but not limited to): volunteering, assisting essential workers, helping out those in need and much much more! All nominees will be entered for the chance to win $500 AND be featured on WTOP and WTOP.com.

Those nominating must be 18 years or older and in order to be eligible for a nomination, Top Kids must:

  • Live in Maryland, DC or Virginia
  • Be between the ages of 5-18 years old

Nominations open August 10, 2020 and close Sunday, June 6, 2021. To nominate a Top Kid in your life just go to WTOP.com and search “Top Kids”. Each WTOP Top Kid will be chosen by a panel of WTOP judges with the first feature beginning Friday, September 18 and all proceeding features running through Friday June 11, 2021. No Duplicates.

“These are unusual times for all of us but the impact on kids is especially significant,” WTOP Director of News and Programming Julia Ziegler said. “Children in the DC region are doing some amazing things to help those around them and make an impact in their communities, and we wanted to recognize that in a special way.”
