Washington Area Fuel Fund asks you to support your neighbors this winter!

Everyone doesn’t have a dream home.

Did you know that more than 1 in 5 people in the D.C. metropolitan area live below the poverty line. Throughout our area, there are many families who will need to choose between food and other essentials rather than heat this winter.

How can you help? Donate to the Washington Area Fuel Fund through the Salvation Army. WAFF supports energy solutions that make life go! Cooking, bathing, heating a home, and washing clothes are all necessities that require fuel. A small donation can help an individual or family propel their lives forward. And 100% of WAFF donations go directly to those in need. Since 1983, WAFF has distributed nearly $33 million and helped more than 300,000 individuals and nearly 100,000 households across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia pay their energy bills during times of hardship—no matter the fuel source, e.g., natural gas, propane gas, electricity, oil, coal, wood, kerosene, etc. To learn more, visit https://www.waffhelp.org.

All donations to the Washington Area Fuel Fund/Salvation Army are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Make plans to join us at upcoming community outreach events at The Wharf, D.C.’s most exciting waterfront neighborhood, as a part of our “Spread Warmth” campaign supporting the Washington Area Fuel Fund:

  • Camp WAFF: Open Through February 2023

  • Mardi Gras at The Wharf: February 10, 2024
