Every day, 700 children worldwide are diagnosed with childhood cancer. Yet, less than 4% of the federal government’s total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Chance for Life takes direct aim to fill this gap, providing 100% of net profits from its annual event to help fund vital pediatric cancer research. As one of the largest amateur poker tournaments in the U.S., over 700 players come from all over the country to the CFL event for their chance to win the grand prize of a $10,000 seat at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, while 30 of DC’s most innovative chefs sling new creations and celebrities make surprise appearances.
Past celebrity guests include Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Jerome Bettis and Cal Ripken Jr. Past surprise musical performances have been delivered by Blues Traveler and Robin Thicke.
The 15th Annual Chance for Life Poker Tournament & Taste Experience will return to MGM National Harbor on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
