WASHINGTON — Evgeny Kuznetsov pretty much did it all in Washington’s 4-1 win against Vancouver Thursday at Verizon Center. The Capitals’ leading scorer finished with two goals and an assist, a plus-4 rating and a season-high six shots on goal. Kuznetsov also won 10-of-15 faceoffs and was named the game’s first star.
After opening the scoring with a nifty move to beat Vancouver’s Ryan Miller in the second period, Kuznetsov joined Canada’s Rogers Sportsnet as their second intermission guest. Reporter Dan Murphy brought up a recent article Kuznetsov contributed to The Players Tribune and asked the Russian if he would someday like to be a writer or author once his playing days are behind him.
Kuznetov’s personality came through with an answer that nearly left Murphy speechless.
“I don’t know,” Kuznsteov said. “Maybe I want to sit somewhere and freeze and just smoke nice cigars and drink the whiskey.”
