Portsmouth, Va. police looking for shooter who wounded toddler

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — Portsmouth police say a toddler was shot and a woman was grazed by a bullet as they rode in a car.

Police said someone in another car shot at them just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Portsmouth’s Mount Hermon neighborhood.

They said in a news release that a 21-month-old girl was shot in her upper body, but her injury is no longer life-threatening. A 23-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet, but declined treatment.

Police are still trying to identify the driver of a silver, four-door vehicle with 30-day temporary tags.
