Former Virginia deputy convicted of assaulting ex-fiancee’ in traffic stop

DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) — A former Dinwiddie County sheriff’s deputy has been convicted to assaulting his former fiancee’ during a traffic stop in August 2014.

A Circuit Court judge this week convicted Michael D. Green after viewing a dashboard video of the traffic stop. The video obtained by the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1MtXp9z) shows Green pulling his fiancee’ out of her car, throwing her to the pavement and spraying mace in her eyes while he straddled her.

The assault occurred on Interstate 85.

Judge Joseph M. Teefey Jr. sentenced Green to 12 months, suspending six months of the punishment.

Another Dinwiddie motorist has filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against Green for a June 2014 traffic stop during which the plaintiff says Green struck him, fracturing two ribs.

Green was fired by the sheriff’s office.
