Woman, told she can’t take liquor bottle on plane, drinks it all

WASHINGTON — We’ve all had rough times at the airport security checkpoint (um, haven’t we?), but a Chinese woman recently compounded her problems.

She bought a $200 bottle of Remy Martin XO Excellence at a U.S. airport and was getting onto a domestic flight from Beijing to Wenzhou when police at the gate told her that the 700-milliliter bottle — about 23 ounces — was too big to bring in her hand luggage, the South China Morning Post reports. (The limit in China is 100 mL).

She didn’t want to waste it, so she opened it up and downed it in one go.

Not entirely unpredictably, she was soon found to be rolling around on the floor and screaming, according to the police, then passed out. The captain of the flight deemed her too drunk to fly.

When she woke up a few hours later, she reportedly thanks the police for taking care of her. Relatives came to take her home.
