New jeans claim to filter flatulent fumes

WASHINGTON — Do these jeans make me look flatulent?

Denim lovers need not worry about being a bit gassy, if the claims of a British company can be believed.

Shreddies, which in 2013 introduced underwear with a carbon back panel to absorb and neutralize odors, has expanded its line to include jeans and pajamas.

Selling for approximately $150, Shreddies Ladies Flatulence Jeans offers “increased protection and more freedom to enter social situations,” according to the company’s website.

The company’s Men’s Flatulence Jeans suggest “when worn with Shreddies flatulence filtering underwear it offers a double layer of protection, giving increased confidence that all odors are filtered.”

The products utilize a “Zorflex” cloth, sandwiched between layers of regular fabric to absorb and trap odors.

It’s not clear whether the denim also muffles the sounds of the  offensive intrusion.
