Website that shipped glitter to enemies overwhelmed by demand

WASHINGTON — Well, that escalated quickly.

On Tuesday, TIME ran a story about ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com, a new website that allows you to ship boxes of glitter to people you despise.

Why glitter? Because it’s almost impossible to get rid of when it’s been unleashed. The site’s creators say they’d also send notes to the glitter recipients, telling them “how awful they are.” (That note would also be packed with glitter, making the situation even more messy.)

But just as fast as the site launched, it seems the demand has overwhelmed the site and its leader. Site founder Mathew Carpenter wrote on Product Hunt that consumers should “stop buying this horrible glitter product” because “I’m sick of dealing with it.”

The site received a million page views in just 24 hours; Carpenter was so overwhelmed that he might sell the site, TIME reports. Purchasing has been temporarily suspended.
