Paige Bueckers scores 18 of her 32 in 1st quarter, Wings beat Storm 92-70

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Paige Bueckers scored 18 of her 32 points in the first quarter, Jessica Shepard had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and the Dallas Wings beat the Seattle Storm 92-70 on Sunday to tie the franchise’s single-season wins record.

The Wings (22-16) can clinch a playoff spot with a home win against Portland on Tuesday.

Bueckers was unstoppable in the first quarter, making seven of her eight shot attempts, including all four 3-pointers. The Wings outscored the Storm 34-17 in the opening 10 minutes.

Seattle scored the final 14 points in the second quarter, holding Dallas without a point for the final four-plus minutes of the half, but still trailed 56-35.

The Storm (7-31) have lost three straight and 14 of 15.

Flau’jae Johnson made a career-high tying five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for the Storm. Jade Melbourne added 15 points and Dominique Malonga scored 12.

The Wings made 33 of 66 from the field, shot 48% (11 of 23) from 3-point range and hit 15 of 17 (88%) from the free-throw line.

Azzi Fudd (knee) and Aziaha James (leg) did not play for Dallas.

Seattle’s Natisha Hiedeman (shoulder) missed the game.
