Dodgers send pitcher Emmet Sheehan back to Triple-A just 3 days after his return

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned pitcher Emmet Sheehan to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, three days after he returned to the major league team but didn’t appear in a game.

The right-hander is 4-8 with a 5.29 ERA and 108 strikeouts over a career-high 20 starts this season, his third in Los Angeles.

The team recalled pitcher Paul Gervase from Oklahoma City. He’s 2-1 record with a 4.86 ERA in 31 games for the Comets.

He has made four appearances for the Dodgers this season, with a 2.35 ERA over 7 2/3 innings and eight strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander has appeared in 10 major league games in his career after being drafted by the New York Mets in 2022.
