WTOP – SOUTH AFRICAN TRIP FOR 2 TO CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA SWEEPSTAKES

 

OFFICIAL RULES

 

 

  1. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  In order to enter, from Monday, February 9, 2015, through 11:59:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015, go to the www.wtop.com website, click on the “Contest” icon at the bottom of the WTOP home page, click on the “South African Trip for 2” icon and complete the entry form, which includes your name, address, telephone number and email address. WTOP is not responsible for problems accessing the website or completing the entry, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this sweepstakes.  Limit:  One entry per person; any person more than one entry may be disqualified.

 

  1. HOW TO PLAY/HOW THE WINNER IS CHOSEN: Enter as explained in Paragraph 1 above.  From all eligible entries received, one entry will be randomly drawn at the WTOP Studios on or before Friday, March 13, 2015.  The winner will be notified by telephone and/or email.  Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

 

  1. PRIZE: There will be one (1) winner in this sweepstakes.  The winner will receive a trip for two (2) to Cape Town, South Africa, consisting of the following:

 

  1. Two (2) roundtrip economy tickets from the Washington Dulles airport to Cape Town, South Africa, on South African Airways.

 

  1. Three (3) nights hotel accommodations (one room, double occupancy) at Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.

 

Total value of the prize is $4,000.  Trip must be taken between April 1, 2015, and March 6, 2016.  The following black-out dates apply:  July 1, 2015, through August 31, 2015; and December 15, 2015, through January 15, 2016.  All other expenses not mentioned herein, including without limitation, food/beverages, transportation to and from the airport in Washington, D. C., ground transportation while in Cape Town, South Africa, hotel amenities, fees and gratuities, etc., are the responsibility of the winner and traveling companion.  If the winner and/or his/her guest misses the flights as scheduled, the winner will forfeit the prize. If the winner and/or his/her guest is not present for the designated return flight, he/she is solely responsible for his/her return to Washington, D. C.  Hotel based on availability of accommodation at the time of making reservation.  Reservations are subject to promotional space availability and the winner and his/her companion must travel together.  Extensions may be added and purchased separately by the winner and/or his/her guest.  United States government taxes/security/airport fees are the responsibility of the winner.  Valid passports are required and all fees for securing passports are the responsibility of the winner and/or his guest.    Excess baggage fees and additional products or services will be charged the current applicable fees.  Once ticketed, any changes will be charged the current applicable fees. The winner is responsible for providing all necessary travel documentation, including passports.  IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING NEW PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL:  As of January 23, 2007 all international travelers must present a government issued passport for U.S. Customs re-entry after air, land or sea travel. For more information please visit the State Department’s consular website www.travel.state.gov or the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s website www.dhs.govIt is the traveler’s responsibility to provide proper documentation. Married or divorced women traveling under names other than what is printed on their travel documents, must supply a marriage license and/or divorce decree.

 

A qualified winner must also meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in Paragraph 5 of these rules.  The winner is responsible for paying all applicable income taxes.  A 1099 form will be submitted to all appropriate taxing authorities, and by signing the Prize Release, each winner accepts the prize, and even if the winner does not use the prize/trip, he/she will be responsible for the applicable taxes.

 

  1. CLAIMING A PRIZE: The winner must complete the required paperwork within ten (10) business days of the day he/she wins to verify that he/she is a qualified winner.  Winners have forty-eight (48) hours from the time they are contacted by station to accept or deny prize or prize may be forfeited.  This is to verify that the prize is being given to the qualified winner.  Failure to comply with this deadline shall be deemed to be the winner’s forfeiture of his or her right to claim a prize.  The winner must prove he or she is a qualified winner by presenting identification acceptable to WTOP (g., state drivers license; state issued identification card; valid passport with address verification; or birth certificate with social security card and photo identification and address verification).  If the winner cannot prove he or she is a qualified winner, another name will be randomly drawn from the remaining eligible entries.  Once the winner has completed the necessary paperwork, the winner will be given the information he/she needs to book his/her trip directly with the travel agency.

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY: Individuals must be 21 years or older and residents of Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland or West Virginia in order to participate in this sweepstakes.  In order to be eligible to win a prize in this sweepstakes, you cannot have won a prize from WTOP within 60 days prior to the awarding of a prize to you in this sweepstakes.  These restrictions apply even if you reject the prize.  Employees of Hubbard Radio Washington D.C., LLC and its station WTOP, Hubbard Radio, LLC, South African Airways, Table Bay Hotel and Washington DC Travel and Adventure, or other radio stations in WTOP’s DMA, or any of their subsidiaries, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter. Anyone participating in this sweepstakes or claiming a prize in this sweepstakes in violation of these rules will be disqualified from winning a prize in this sweepstakes and from participating in WTOP sweepstakes/contests for a period of one year.

 

  1. RELEASE; CONSENT TO USE LIKENESS, VOICE AND ADDRESS: The winner must execute an affidavit of eligibility.  Each person entering this sweepstakes (a) agrees to release Hubbard Radio Washington D.C., LLC and its station, WTOP, Hubbard Radio, LLC, South African Airways, Table Bay Hotel and Washington DC Travel and Adventure (including their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent or related companies) from any and all liability, claims, damages and actions arising directly or indirectly out of or sustained in connection with the awarding or acceptance of the prize(s), and/or misuse of any prize, or to participation in the sweepstakes or in prize-related activities, including any travel related thereto, and (b) consents to the use by WTOP for promotional purposes, of his or her likeness or voice (and/or address (city/state)) without any additional compensation. By participating in this sweepstakes, each participant agrees to the application of these official rules. By accompanying the winner, the winner’s guest agrees to be bound by the terms of these official rules, including the preceding release.

 

  1. WINNER LIST: For the name of the winner, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope before April 15, 2015, to Winners List, South African Trip for 2 to Cape Town, South Africa, WTOP, 3400 Idaho Avenue N.W., Washington, D. C.  20016.

 

  1. MISCELLANEOUS:

 

Decisions of WTOP concerning any and all matters with respect to this sweepstakes shall be final.  Sweepstakes is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law.  WTOP reserves the right to change the prize values at any time.  WTOP is not responsible for printing errors in the sweepstakes materials or these rules.  WTOP is not responsible for problems accessing the website, or technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this sweepstakes.  WTOP,  in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant from participation in or use of any or all portions of this sweepstakes, and refuse to award the Prize, if participant engages in any conduct WTOP deems to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the sweepstakes or detrimental to other entrants of the sweepstakes.  Such improper conduct includes, without limitation, falsifying personal information required during registration or prize claim, violating any term or condition stated herein, accumulating entries through methods such as automated computer scripts or any other programming techniques, allowing others to use entrant’s personal information for the purpose of accumulating entries, or intentionally trying to defraud, reverse engineer, disassemble or otherwise tamper with the computer programs in connection with this sweepstakes.  Participants agree that WTOP may void any part of the Prize that participant may have won and/or require the return of any part of the Prize that participant may have won as a result of such improper conduct.  Participant further acknowledges that any forfeiture of the Prize and/or return of the Prize shall in no way prevent WTOP from pursuing other avenues of recourse such as criminal or civil proceedings in connection with such conduct. WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, EACH OF THE SWEEPSTAKES ENTITIES RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.  If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, cancellation of show, scheduling changes or any other causes which WTOP, in its sole opinion believes could corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this sweepstakes, WTOP reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this sweepstakes and select the Prize winner from entries received prior to the action taken or in such other manner as WTOP may deem fair and appropriate.
