WASHINGTON — Two unoccupied Maryland State Police patrol cars were struck by another vehicle while the troopers were responding to another crash on Interstate 495 in Prince George’s County on Monday night.
Kenric L. Stephens, 62, of Temple Hills, is charged with driving while impaired as well as other related traffic charges.
Driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, Stephens failed to stop and rear-ended one of the patrol cars, which struck the second patrol car. The patrol vehicles had the emergency lights activated, according to a Maryland State Police news release.
Both state troopers were out of their vehicles, assisting those involved in a crash that occurred shortly before 11 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Stephens was taken to Forestville Barrack for processing and sent to the central booking center in Upper Marlboro for an appearance before a court commissioner.
