WASHINGTON — A mother and her young child were killed in a crash Thursday night along Suitland Parkway in Prince George’s County.
Two vehicles crashed about 8:20 p.m. at Suitland and Forestville Road near the Capital Beltway, the U.S. Park Police said.
The mother, whose name has not been released, was driving one of the vehicles and died at the scene. Her young child, whose age or name was not released, was taken to the hospital where the child later died, police said.
The second driver was also injured but was expected to survive, police said.
The road was closed for about six hours for the crash investigation.
A third vehicle crashed into an empty police cruiser during the investigation. That driver was arrested on a drunken driving charge, police said.
