WTOP Entertainment Reporter Jason Fraley chats with jazz master Branford Marsalis, who plays Strathmore on Thursday, then Wolf Trap on Jan. 26-27. They discussed his Louisiana roots with brother Wynton Marsalis, touring with Sting, working with Spike Lee, fronting the “Tonight Show” band and even playing the National Anthem for the Baltimore Orioles when Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig’s streak at Camden Yards.
