The Bedminster, New Jersey-based company said it had profit of $1.86 per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, were 46 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.
The seller of refrigerated fresh pet food posted revenue of $288.8 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $284.4 million.
