On a per-share basis, the Chicago-based company said it had profit of $2.25. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $2.10 per share.
The equipment finance company posted revenue of $439.3 million in the period.
Gatx expects full-year earnings to be $8.50 to $8.90 per share.
