On a per-share basis, the South Portland, Maine-based company said it had profit of $1.98. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $3.95 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.69 per share.
The provider of fuel payment processing for fleet vehicles posted revenue of $659.6 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $653.6 million.
For the current quarter ending in September, Wex expects its per-share earnings to range from $4.30 to $4.50.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $669 million to $689 million for the fiscal third quarter.
Wex expects full-year earnings in the range of $15.37 to $15.77 per share, with revenue ranging from $2.61 billion to $2.65 billion.
