The Vaughan, Ontario-based company said it had a loss of 18 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 7 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.
The company posted revenue of $1.28 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.25 billion.
Bausch + Lomb expects full-year revenue in the range of $5 billion to $5.1 billion.
Bausch + Lomb shares have declined 19% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 12% in the last 12 months.
