The Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 81 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 71 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 65 cents per share.
The maker of engineered products for the aerospace and other industries posted revenue of $1.84 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.85 billion.
For the current quarter ending in December, Howmet expects its per-share earnings to range from 70 cents to 72 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.85 billion to $1.89 billion for the fiscal fourth quarter.
Howmet expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.65 to $2.67 per share, with revenue ranging from $7.39 billion to $7.43 billion.
