On a per-share basis, the Detroit-based company said it had net income of $2.30. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.22 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.87 per share.
DTE Energy expects full-year earnings in the range of $6.54 to $6.83 per share.
