New record set for most expensive Greater Washington home sale

There is a new record holder for the most expensive home sale in Greater Washington.

Robert Stevens, the former chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), and his wife Michelle have sold River View, a 16.5-acre property with unspoiled Potomac River frontage, a 16,000-square-foot main home and separate carriage home, for $48 million. The deal, confirmed by listing agent Heather Corey of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, closed Friday.

“We actually had a spurt of interest all around the same time,” Corey said, noting there were three potential buyers all vying for the property. Corey declined to name the buyer, who paid all cash.

The property was first listed in October 2020 for a staggering $60 million. Its sale comes less than two years after a 3.2-acre McLean estate that belonged to Jim Kimsey, the late co-founder of AOL, sold for $45 million. That was the record-holder until now.
