BAE Systems reaches deal to acquire military simulator software developer

BAE Systems Inc. said Thursday it has reached an agreement to purchase Bohemia Interactive Simulations, an Orlando, Florida, software developer specializing in military training simulators.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Through the deal, the Falls Church defense contractor — a subsidiary of British company BAE Systems PLC — will gain BISim’s software and engineering expertise. The subsidiary and parent companies already count a lot of work in military simulation systems.

BISim, which spun out of a Czech Republic-based gaming studio and has been backed by New York City private equity firm The Riverside Co., uses its game-based tech to develop what it calls “high-fidelity, cost-effective training and simulation software products and components” for defense applications with NATO-friendly nations.
