The Catholic Diocese of Arlington has sold nearly 400 acres in western Loudoun County to Chuck Kuhn, the owner of JK Moving Services, who will put the land into conservation easement to prevent its future development.
Browns Lane LLC, led by Kuhn, paid $6 million for the Brown family estate in Waterford, also known as Oakland Farm, according to public records. The property dates to the 18th century, and may, per its listing, include the site of the first Catholic Mass ever held in Loudoun.
“It’s just a beautiful, beautiful piece of land in the town of Waterford,” said Kuhn, who owns thousands of acres across Loudoun and Prince William counties, some of which he buys to protect from development, and some he purchases to sell or develop, largely as data centers. “We wanted to protect the open space.”
The Browns Lane property, which consists of five parcels totaling 397 acres, was listed for sale at $8 million in June 2020, according to Realtor.com. The pitch noted that the property,…
