Kanye and Kim Kardashian West’s Son Saint OK After Pneumonia Hospital Stay

Kanye and Kim Kardashian West’s 2-year-old son Saint had a scary start to the New Year that included a hospital stay for pneumonia.

“My precious baby boy is so strong! After spending three nights in the hospital & seeing my baby get multiple IV’s and hooked up to oxygen machines, our end of year was challenging,” Kardashian West tweeted Tuesday. “Pneumonia is so scary.”

Across the globe, pneumonia remains the leading infectious cause of death for kids under 5 years old, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agency recommends children younger than 2 years old and adults ages 65 and older receive the pneumococcal vaccination. In the U.S. alone, pneumonia kills approximately 50,000 people every year.

Kardashian West also tweeted a shout-out to medical professionals near and far.

“I just want to thanks every nurse & doctor out there who works so hard around the clock,” she continued in a follow-up tweet. “We are so grateful for you all! He’s home and all better. He’s so resilient I’m sure he will still say the ambulance ride was cool! My strong Saint.”

She ended the tweet with an angel emoji, and also posted the same message on Instagram. The Kardashian Wests are also parents to daughter North, 4, and are expecting another daughter via surrogate.
