Inova Loudoun retirement sparks hospital CEO musical chairs

Inova Loudoun Hospital CEO Patrick Walters will retire next month, to be replaced by Inova Mount Vernon Hospital CEO Deborah Addo.

Walters’ departure, announced Tuesday, also sparked a musical chairs of sorts for the leadership of Inova Health System hospitals across the region.

Inova Alexandria Hospital CEO Susan Carroll was promoted to regional executive officer over Inova Alexandria and Inova Mount Vernon hospitals. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon’s chief medical officer, Dr. Don Brideau, accepted the position of interim CEO of the Mount Vernon hospital while the Northern Virginia health system begins the selection process for a new CEO in Alexandria.

Walters previously served as served as president and CEO of Alexandria Health Services Corp. and administrator of Alexandria Hospital from 1992 to 1997. When that hospital was merged into Inova, Walters became regional vice president over the Alexandria and Mount Vernon hospitals.
