WASHINGTON — The satirical commentary program “The Colbert Report” goes off the air next week, but if you’d like a souvenir, you might be in luck.
Host Stephen Colbert, who will take over “The Late Show on CBS” from the retiring David Letterman, is celebrating the end of combat operations in Afghanistan by raffling off pieces of the show’s set before the show ends.
The first-place winner will get Colbert’s news desk; the second-place winner, the show’s official fireplace. It doesn’t burn real fire, but includes a portrait of Colbert, a mantle, chair, rug and a virtual fire.
Half the money raised will go to The Yellow Ribbon Fund, which supports veterans. The other half goes to donorschoose.org, a charity for teachers who need money to fund classroom projects.
There are only six more days left in the contest. The last episode of “The Colbert Report” airs Dec. 18.
