Venus and Serena to open revamped DC tennis center

WASHINGTON (AP) — Tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams will help unveil renovations of the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center in Washington.

The Department of Parks and Recreation facility has undergone an $18 million renovation that will be unveiled Friday. The facility, which opened in 2001, will have six new outdoor courts and six indoor courts in addition to an outdoor clay court.

The indoor part of the facility will be called the Williams Arena after the sisters.

The renovations were paid for by a grant and earmark from the D.C. government.
