FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County residents Bev and Bruce Sherman’s Halloween decorations weren’t worth a lot of money, but they had sentimental value. So when the couple woke up two days before Halloween and discovered that the hand-carved Snoopy and Charlie Brown characters they had displayed in the yard for 26 years were gone, they were devastated.
WJLA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1nYwE4b ) that homes in the Sully District and Fair Oaks areas of Fairfax County were hit hard by thieves this Halloween. Police say they received roughly a dozen calls from residents like the Shermans who said their Halloween decorations were stolen, some worth hundreds of dollars. Police say the thieves were likely hoping to re- sell the decorations.
“You wonder what kind of people they are,” Bev Sherman told WJLA-TV. “Please bring them back.”
