WASHINGTON – A man with a rifle in his car was arrested at the White House Wednesday afternoon.
The Iowa man says he drove to D.C. to go to the White House because someone told him to.
Renae Kapheim, 41, walked up to a checkpoint just before 1 p.m. and an officer thought something was not right.
When the Secret Service searched Kapheim’s car parked at 16th Street and Constitution Avenue, they found a hunting rifle and ammunition.
The man now faces a gun charge.
The Secret Service has come under fire after a man jumped a fence and was able to enter the White House on Sept. 19, which led to the resignation of the agency’s director.
