WASHINGTON — Not even a great white shark deterred an Australian man from jumping into the water to “surf” a dead whale.
Harrison Williams, 26, was boating with friends off the coast of Western Australia last weekend when he decided to attempt the feat, CNN reports.
Williams jumped into the water and climbed onto the decaying whale while nearby sharks fed on the carcass. Friends captured the ordeal on camera.
“Mum thinks I’m an idiot, Dad’s not too proud either,” Williams told an Australian broadcaster.
Authorities said because the whale was dead, and Williams did not remove any part of it, he will not be fined.
