WASHINGTON — Firehouses are designated as safe places, and apparently a
stray Yorkshire terrier figured that out.
The little dog turned up at the Springdale firehouse in Prince George’s County
around midnight Thanksgiving morning.
Firefighter Timothy Ormerod says the dog’s in good shape but a little
nervous.
“He’s in a firehouse with bells ringing and trucks running and probably a lot
more people than he’s used to running around him.”
The firefighters call him Gizmo thanks to his resemblance to the character
from the movie Gremlins. A vet checked him out and found no microchip.
Firefighters want the owner to call the station. Otherwise, Ormerod says his
wife’s given him the green light to take him home and foster him until the
owner’s found.
The number to call is 301-883-7706.
