WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County school employees have been warned that
their
personal data, including social security numbers, were recently emailed outside
the school system.
“Your personal information may have been potentially exposed to others,” writes
Deputy Superintendent Monique Whittington Davis.
“It appears the school system is performing its due diligence of, first,
establishing the scale of the breach, second, informing the Attorney General,
and,
finally, informing the employees whose information may have been compromised,”
says Kenneth Haines, president of the county teachers union.
Davis has told affected employees that the school system is offering one year of
free credit monitoring and says steps have been taken to make sure a similar
breach doesn’t reoccur.
