WASHINGTON — A couple made Southwest Airlines history with in-flight nuptials Sunday.
Dottie Coven and Keith Stewart tied the knot at 32,000 feet during a flight from Nashville, Tennessee, to Dallas, Texas, Sunday afternoon. It was the first time Southwest had allowed a wedding ceremony during a flight, USA TODAY reports.
Coven, 44, and Stewart, 38, live near Louisville, Kentucky, and met on a dating website, according to USA TODAY. The couple travels a great deal for their jobs — she’s in sales and he’s in IT — and decided to present the idea to Southwest.
The airline agreed and chose the first non-stop flight from Nashville to Dallas Love Field for the wedding, said Ana Schwager, Southwest’s community affairs and grassroots manage.
