WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. United leading scorer Luis Silva has a hamstring injury that could put him out for the rest of the season, a blow to the top team in the Eastern Conference heading into the MLS playoffs.
United said Tuesday that Silva was injured in Sunday’s win over the Houston Dynamo and will be sidelined for four to six weeks. He will miss the final two regular-season games and the conference semifinals.
Silva possibly could return in time for the conference finals in late November, if United makes it that far. The projected timetable would have him back in time for the MLS Cup in early December.
Silva has scored 11 goals in 27 games this season.
