WASHINGTON — Some students in Charles County had to briefly be kept inside their schools while authorities looked for home invasion suspects.
The suspects are now in custody. A lockdown occurred at one school, while two others sheltered in place.
The suspects were last seen near North Point High School in Waldorf, Maryland. Because of that the school was put on lockdown, with everyone held inside the school’s classrooms.
In a news release, police said an altercation had occurred at a house near North Pointe High School. Two suspects fled the house and a witness said a victim chased them and may have had a knife.
Katie O’Malley Simpson, a spokeswoman for Charles County Public Schools, said two other nearby schools, William A. Diggs Elementary and Davis Middle were put in a “Shelter in Place” mode, with no one entering or leaving the buildings.
