WASHINGTON — Sarah Jessica Parker played a shoe-obsessed New Yorker in HBO’s “Sex and the City,” but some West Village residents weren’t too obsessed with her shoe line’s ad.
An ad for Parker’s line caused some unexpected controversy after she staged an unauthorized photo shoot in New York City’s West Village. Parker lined up her SPJ Collection shoes on the stoop where her “Sex and the City” character lived.
After eager tourists visited the famous steps, the owner of the property installed a metal chain across the steps that reads, “Do NOT go on staircase please.”
Parker’s Instagram photos from the shoot on Oct. 7 show her leaning over the chain and sign to set up her shoes.
