North Slope wins Belmont’s Bowl Game Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — North Slope held off Slumber by a neck Sunday in the $100,000 Bowl Game Stakes on the turf at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old gelding got his fourth win in 18 starts, running 1 1/4 miles in 2:05.81 over the course rated good.

Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin as North Slope paid $14.40, $6.70 and $3.90 for his first stakes victory. Slumber returned $3.40 and $2.30, and Micromanage paid $3 to show.
