WASHINGTON –Virginia State Police officials are warning motorists that there will be major convoy of motorcyclists making their way down Interstate 95 Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2 p.m.
The motorcade is part of 9/11 tribute in which participants will be transporting a steel beam from the World Trade Center to the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Va. The beam will be delivered on a New York City firetruck and escorted by anywhere from 500 to 1,500 bikers, police said.
The convoy will leave the Maryland House Service Center north of Baltimore at 2:15 p.m., traveling through the Harbor Tunner, and then onto 295 South (Baltimore-Washington Parkway). The convoy will then connect with I-395 to I- 95, traveling south until it arrives in Quantico off Joplin Road at approximately 4:10 p.m.

According to the police, motorists can expect traffic delays from approximately 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Joplin Road area, and should also expect delays on Route 1 as the convoy makes its way to the museum.
