WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia transportation officials say the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge will be closed for a few hours this weekend for routine testing.
Officials say the bridge, also called the South Capitol Street Bridge, will be closed on Sunday from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Transportation officials say the bridge, which carries traffic over the Anacostia River, will be closed so officials can test the part of the bridge that can be swung open to allow water traffic to pass. Crews will test the swing span to ensure it is operating properly. They’ll also make any necessary repairs.
Officials say the bridge will reopen to traffic as soon as the test opening and any repairs are complete.
